Jubilee vs Mina Ashido (Marvel vs My Hero Academia)

“We all have pain and suffering, but what makes us and defines us in this life is how we face that pain, walk through it, and transmute it to our greatness.” - Siobhan Neilland

Jubilee, the free-spirited fireworks mall rat of Marvel's X-Men

Mina Ashido, the acidic alien queen of My Hero Academia

It takes a lot of hard work to be a Hero, especially when you're having time juggle the struggles of school with the best of the best. And yet, when the chips are down and the stakes are high, you'll find no better than these mean teen fighting machines with the power to destroy anything they touch. I'm Round 1 Fight, and it's time to find out which of these fun-loving girl wonders will win!

Round 1: FIGHT!!!

Before We Start...

Obviously the primary canon is being used for both of these lovely ladies. This means the Earth-616 version of Jubilee; no What-If?'s or alternate timelines for her. Mina on the other hand gets the Manga and Anime of My Hero Academia, the Ultra Archive/Analysis Books, and the 3 Movies, which are confirmed Canon by the orginal story. On another note, this is my first try at making better overall blogs, and I'd love tips on how to improve as a writer in the future.

Also, obviously, heavy spoilers for both characters and their stories.

Background

Jubilee

The X-Men are some of the most fearless, and fearsome, heroes Marvel has to offer. From the laser-eyed leader Cyclops, to the cryokinetic wonder Iceman, to the power stealing southern belle Rouge, to the Canadian knuckle-head Wolverine. All of them seem different, but they share the same blessing, and the same curse; the X-Gene. This chance extra chromosome in human biology tells us the difference between Homo Sapien and Homo Superior; Human, and Mutant. Because humanity is nothing if not predictable, they grew to hate things they were jealous of, and thus mutants were feared, hunted, and killed around the world for years to come. Most mutants share a tragic backstory because of this, and Jubilation Lee, known by her friends as Jubilee, is no different.

Jubilee was born to immigrants from Hong Kong, who had made a wealthy life for themselves in the United States of America. Their joy at these events was where Jubilation's name came from after all. Jubilee had a rebellious streak, but was a rather extraordinary child nonetheless; from her unparalleled athletic skills to her proficiency in skating. Still, her spunk eventually landed her in trouble with some policemen during a prank with her best friend Cynthia, and in this stressful cornering, her X-Gene awakened, causing her hands to light up the alleyway with "fireworks". Jubilee knew from then on that nothing would be the same, because she was a Mutant, and she would hide her powers to try and stick to her normal life. Sadly, it would not last, as her parents were soon murdered by Hunter Brawn; an associate of theirs who was stealing their money, and did the deed to cover his tracks. Now an orphan, stripped of her family and sent to orphanages and Juvenile Hall, Jubilee had to grow up and accept reality. She toughened up, learned how to fight, and ran away, going to hide in the Hollywood Mall, her home away from home.

Spending her days pissing off the local cops and entertaining the locals with her Fireworks, Jubilee was eventually cornered and caught by the M-Squad, a professional Anti-Mutant batch of killers. In a stroke of luck, she was saved by the women of the X-Men on a day off; Dazzler, Psylocke, Rouge, and Storm. As they summoned a portal back to their home, Jubilee realized her own wasn't safe anymore, and decided to test her luck, jumping through the portal before it closed. She ended up at the X-Mansion, and, after living there for a while, she met the best there is at what he does, Wolverine, and joined him on plenty of missions, becoming a sort of junior X-Man, and little sister/daughter figure to Logan. She would continue on across the years to find a new family with groups like Generation X and the Marauders, but she would always come back to her first team. As time went by, Jubilee learned not just to hone her powers, but to accept and better herself, along with how to cope with such grievances as losing her powers, becoming a vampire, or the struggles of parenthood with her adopted son, Shogo. However, through it all, Jubilee never gave up, and as long as she keeps that undying spirit, she'll continue to take names, kick %$#, and light up the night with her  fireworks.

Mina Ashido

At some point in your life, I'll bet you wish you had superpowers. That the Supernatural was the natural, the MCU became the U, and that everybody could become a hero, including yourself. Welcome to My Hero Academia, where this is the reality of mankind. Evolution has gifted around 80% of the planet with "Quirks"; Biological Mutations that allow them to use a specific superpower inherited from their parents, a mix of their parents Quirks, or really any power imaginable. With this new world straight out of a comic book, similar traits followed, like the villians that would use their powers for evil, and the heroes that would save everybody, stopping the evildoers in their tracks. To become a hero, one must obviously receive training, and no better place exists to hone your skills than U.A High, THE Hero Academia. Among these practical prodigies are such stars like One For All wonder Izuku Midoriya, Zero Gravity martial artist Ochako Uraraka, and Half-Cold Half-Hot son of the #2 Shoto Todoroki, among many more. Yet, standing besides these Titans is one of their best, their funniest, their most passionate, and an all-around joy to be with; Mina Ashido.

Mina was practically destined to be a hero from the moment she was born. She was almost like an angel born in human form, with her bright demeanor, ability to make people happy, and all by doing what she loved, like dancing, or playing video games. Her popularity and potential expanded when she received her Quirk; the ability to generate and control an incredibly powerful Acid. Her strength and confidence drew her many friends, but these attributes didn't disguise or hide the fact that she was still a teenage, mortal girl. She suffered staggering and brutal emotions just like all other kids her age did, but they seemed to wash away when she finally got to U.A. There, she found new friends, like Ochako Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, and Momo Yaoyorozu, and their journey to becoming the best heroes they could be became all the more enjoyable. From advancing her Quirk, to training under her teachers like Eraserhead and Midnight, Mina was living the best years of her life...until it all went to Hell.

A newly formed League Of Villians, and their subsequent efforts to tear down Hero Society as a whole, led to several attacks on the school, multiple casualties across the coming war, and several dealings of psychological trauma. Even her beloved teachers weren't safe, as several were injured, and one of her favorites, Midnight, was tragically killed. All of this made it incredibly hard for Mina to smile...but in her weakness, she found her strength. She had understood what it was like to be weak, to feel powerless, and like all of her work meant nothing to an unstoppable threat. In those moments, she learned to never give up, and keep pushing on, paving the way to a brighter future with her friends at her side to protect what she loves. After all, that is what heroes do.

Experience/Skill
Jubilee

Due to being a former student at Xavier's School, Jubilee has been exposed to virtually every type of combat and battle style imaginable. She already had "above-average" combat skill as stated by a guidebook, along with some tricks picked up from Juvy, but her skill improved after receiving training from top-tier fighters like Wolverine and Emma Frost. From learning firearms knowledge and how to turn anything on hand to a weapon, to getting martial arts training from Logan and Raido, a multi-century old samurai.

In battle, she has used her powers to blind foes several times over to make them play into her hands, shorted out or destroyed technology based powers/weapons like guns, and her abilities, when fine-tuned and added to her precision, can hit a robots internal machinery by getting thrown through its mouth or eyes. She's rather adept at figuring out flaws in robotic foes in general really, and can accurately target thrusters or the like to knock them out of the sky. In pure hand-to-hand, she's defeated multiple ninjas, or, outside of combat terms, she is an experienced thief, and knows how to patch up most wounds lickety-split. Her skills advanced in some point of the future to even be claimed as "the last X-Man" by the time-traveler Bishop.

Actual combat tactics wise, Jubilee is a master ranger, able to blast foes from afar and at close range. Her style can primarily be described as a sort of anger inducement; purposely taunting foes or blinding them in order to get them to screw up mid-combat and leave themselves open.  There is a double-edge sword in this, in that she herself is prone to losing her cool, and that will actually make her have less control over her powers as a result. Also, surprisingly enough, she has a problem with people who can get in close to her and dodge her fireworks, and she has lost to people like that many times before, such as Sabretooth, Omega Red, or Monet.

Mina Ashido

U.A High is the best Hero Academy in the country for a reason, and the same applies to Mina.  While she may have trouble with standard tests and things of that nature, she has proven her skill in combat many times over. She's a crack shot with her Acid, and can accurately hit several targets in the air all at once, which she has shown on multiple occasions. With tips from her teachers, she has also learned to curve the trajectory of her acid, sort of like placing your finger over the nozzle of a hose to block the water flow and release it in different ways. With that tactic in mind, Mina has used it to enhance her acids range and reach on specific points, made it move any which way she wants in battle rapid-fire, and a variety of other useful methods I'll go over later.

She has been credited by multiple intellectual individuals, (as far as combat is concerned), like Deku and Mineta, as having excellent body control, physical strength, and combat both ranged and afar. In her battle with Aoyama, she has also shown the skills necessary to get around his laser beams in order to get in close and land damaging blows, all while joking around and having the time of her life. This primarily comes from her hobby of...dancing! This gives her great experience in physical attributes, incredible agility in dodging enemy attacks, and an overall great balance of exploiting the cracks in an enemy's armor. She has also learned practical ways to use her acid to her advantage, like mixing it with a liquid based foe, making it difficult to get out and require a retreat as a result. Mina is rather adept at recognizing and adapting to her enemies powers, given her using her knowledge from her past team-up with Aoyama to outplay him in their battle, or learning from Toru's Quirk to close her eyes, saving herself from a blinding move used on somebody else.

She isn't perfect however. Mina has shown issues with "scary" opponents; being people who can briefly startle her and leave her scrambling for a new plan. She has shown she has somewhat gotten over this in her rematch with Gigantomachia, but the threat is still there. Also, given her aversion to killing, she tends to hold back, and thus have trouble with, human opponents. Her Acid can easily be used to kill after all, and she's shown this in instances where she has no qualms holding back, like against inanimate objects or robots, which she has dealt with in rapid and successful development.

Arsenal
Jubilee

Gadgets

Despite relying on her powers and physical apritude more often than not, Jubilee has used some other weapons from time to time
• Glasses - A crucial part of both her fighting style, and her style in general. These glasses protect Jubilee from the flash-bang like nature of her powers, as the blinding factor effects her as well. They would also help her in blinding attacks from other people as well.
• Grappling Hook - Grappling Hook.

Mina Ashido

Hero Suit

Like her classmates, Mina has received a state-of-the-art suit for her hero course, tailor-made to help her battle and mitigate her drawbacks, turning them into strengths. Her suit is made of a special acid proof material not yet named, that lets her go all-out without trouble of damaging it; shown by...you know, one of her best moves covering her entire body in it. Her shoes also have the nifty feature of bearing holes in them so she can release it from her feet and slide all over the place or attack with them.

Abilities
Jubilee

Fireworks

Of note, she can also reabsorb her Fireworks back into her body with no damage whatsoever, and she herself is immune to their damaging effects. Speaking of, they can also be used in plenty of deadly techniques and methods of usage, like...

Illumination/Light Generation - Given that Jubilee's powers are light-emitting plasma, they can be used to light up dark areas like mini-flashlights. She can also choose to focus more on emitting light, like in her quests with Excalibur to other worlds that required this skill.
Propulsion - Like a certain other arrogant explosion hero, Jubilee can use her blasts in midair to propel her movements, or blast her any which way. She hasn't done this much, but it is an excellent strategy nonetheless.
Smoke Generation - A very close-range strategy for missions, Jubilee can light up sprinklers and fire systems simply by setting off her powers near them.

Atom Bomb

For those who don't know how Marvel likes to do Mutants, they can be ranging in any power level, from Street to Herald, but eventually, EVENTUALLY, they will get some 5D anime Naruto Jujutsu Kaisen Hunter X Hunter explanation on their powers that automatically makes them 10x more of a bad@ss. This is Jubilee's, her ability to make herself a living atomic bomb.

Essentially, Jubilee's powers have grown over the years, and Emma Frost has told her that her Fireworks had the potential to destroy matter at the subatomic level. This has been rebuffed as truth multiple times over the years, with Jubilee herself explaining her powers are like "combusting molecules" and her powers can operate "atomically small". While not shown much, there are two notable occasions where she has shown off her true potential. The first was when another Mutant, Everett, who could copy/use other Mutant powers, used hers to unleash a blast that blew up matter on the subatomic level, killing dozens of nanotechnology robots and making Banshee's scream seem like "a mere whisper". This explosion was not perfect however, as it left numerous portions of the robots untouched, acting more like a big blast than a bomb that should have atomically annihilated them. The second one however, is the big one.

This unbelievably powerful move does have some caveats I need to stress despite its might. Firstly, the reason she never uses this is because she fears her higher depths of power, and hasn't explored them as a result. She has an aversion to murder (most of the time) and especially innocent people, which is why she only used her Bomb on the ship. While her moral restraint will be removed here, the other problem is that it's blast was so large it would likely have killed others on earth, but on the ship, she had a big enough playing ground. Finally, this is the only instance where she has shown off the atomic bomb kinda power herself/in her powers, and given the description, it's unlikely she can detonate matter on the subatomic level in her normal blasts; only in the giant bomb option.

Enhanced Agility

Jubilee is agile beyond her years, and has done some absurd tricks thanks to her high school training, on top of the X-Men's battle prep. She has outran multiple cops for fun, even jumping off a 50 foot drop with some help from a hanging object with no trouble or damage whatsoever. Just to name a few of her other feats, she's kept up with Wolverine's agility when battling soldiers, parkoured off the heads of her enemies, and claimed she could do more handsprings then Black Widow. This somewhat leaks into her fighting style, and she has been refuted as a highly trained gymnast on a few occasions before. She has incorporated acrobatic kicks into her attacks before, and the extra mobility of her blasts make her able to dance around her enemies without a hitch, and get out of a jam should she get backed into a corner.

Mina Ashido

Acid

Mina's Quirk at work, and one of the primary reasons she is one of UA's best students. Its also why her skin is pink; due to the extra pigmentation (and why she's the hottest girl at U.A but don't mind my preferences).  She can secrete a corrosive Acid from her body, which she can manipulate in terms of how corrosive and sticky it is. In scientist terms, Mina can alter the solubility and the viscosity of her Acid at will, in order to change its effect. Solubility essentially measures how deadly it is: higher solubility = acid bath, lower solubility = non-lethal. On the other hand, viscosity is a metric of what the Acid's texture is: increasing it will turn the acid slimy and malleable, like a gelatin substance, and decreasing it leaves it liquid like. Mina has precise and deadly control over both, and has shown quick switching and combinations of both factors in battle, making her Quirk incredibly versatile.

The caveat to this is that she can only use her Acid at higher levels for so long before her body's natural resistance to Acid starts to get weaker, leaving her skin vulnerable to severe burning and corrosion. However, she has worked to mitigate this risk over multiple years of training, both in and out of U.A, so it's likely less of an issue aside from her all out moves. Another factor is her holding back the viscosity of her Acid against her enemies on purpose, due to her, y'know, being a teenage girl who doesn't want to kill anybody. She has no qualms using it on monsters and robots at its best efficiency, melting through them and destroying their bodies in moments, but against humans she tries to hold back. But, since this is a duel to the death, she probably won't be held back by morals.

Mina's control over her Acid is a wonder in of itself. She can spread it via touch to get precisely on objects, make a literal Acid rain, putting out fires with it as well (4:15), unleash large amounts amped up by the force of her physical strikes (2:50), and we're just getting started. By some strange means, Mina seems to be able to control her Acid to a degree while it is connected to her body, and even somewhat after. For some examples, she has used her Acid in small shields of sorts on each hand via spouts, that somehow froze and did not move, being absorbed back into her right after. Others include making Acid sprays that function like melee weapons, propelling her (19:25) into the air, and later freezing/moving by her control in the same scene, or physically holding some in a solid-like manner (16:50). Given her excellent versatility, it's no surprise she's developed several Hero moves to beat the bad guys over her school years, like...

Acid Veil

Acid Shot

For her next trick, Mina essentially condenses her Acid in different ways to enhance its overall power and area of effect. This ranges from launching multiple globs of acid rapid-fire over a widespread area to shower down on opponents, to using her hands in a nozzle-like fashion for a large hose splash of Acid that melted/destroyed most of Slice's hair, a foe who was beating around a boosted Black Abyss Tokoyami for the most part.

Acid Layback

By releasing Acid from her feet and through her shoes, Mina dissolves the surface of the ground underneath, making it easier for her to spin on the spot, going around rapidly for other purposes. With the enhanced momentum, she spins around while releasing acid for a deadly combo and all-around attack, or to throw objects harder, which could also work with her acid.
● Grape-Pinky Combo Mineta Bounce - Mina uses Acid Layback to spin rapidly on the spot while Mineta uses a bunch of Pop Off Spheres. She then throws him with a large amount of force so he bounces from sphere to sphere, throwing off more pop off spheres from his head into his opponents, while being hard to hit himself.

Acidman

One of Ms. Ashido's deadliest moves, and one she created from her best pal (and totally more but ignore my MHA shipping complex) Ejiro Kirishima. For this, she increases her acid to maximum viscosity, and after spinning around in a forward circle to build this up, she forms a large acid body shield around herself to both protect from damage, and burn others with her touch, as well as affect a lot more than she usually does. It was created with Kirishima's move Red Riot: Unbreakable in mind, as well as her 3rd Hero Internship with Yoroi Musha, as the perfect mix of offense and defense, in incredibly versatile nature no less. This shield can shrug off the power of Dabi's flames or heat in general, or be slightly altered for a different variation, that being...
● Protective Coating Style: 0.1% Acidity - The 2nd version of Acidman; this acid doesn't burn, and is instead used for other purposes like shielding, like a barrier the other students used for catching up to Deku. It was propelled by Dark Shadow, than Todoroki's flashfire fist, than Bakugo's explosions, and didn't fully break until Iida, hidden within, boosted himself to the point where most of his armor shattered, while catching up to Faux 100% Deku with Black Whip as a slingshot. In layman's terms, her Acid in this way could endure the energy/power of speed similar to Deku's fastest at the time, along with the best of other top-tiers like Tokoyami, Bakugo, and Iida, before breaking/losing its purpose.

Output Max Power
Acidman: Alma

For reference, Gigantomachia is roughly the same size as Mt. Lady after her Gigantification Quirk, which makes her 67 Feet and 8 Inches tall. So Mina would be making Acid attacks big enough to encompass an entire building, and these fully show off her true potential. Another cool thing about it is this is sort of like a Super-Form; as her horns enlongate to those of a demons, and her once black eyes appear to change to the MHA norm of white. Like most powerful anime moves however it does have drawbacks, so she can't spam it as much as she wants. Using this massive amount of her acid, and at its highest power output no less, will severely drain her hydration levels from a long enough use, weakening her as a result, scarring her body, and effectively taking her out of the fight as a result. She did show that she could still use her less powerful versions of Acid for a bit after, but she will eventually be rendered far weaker after using this move.

Enhanced Agility

One of Mina's greatest assests is her unparallelled agility, and equally deadly bodily control. She can casually leap across rooftops with the other girls in 1A, can make enormous leaps with no real reason  as to why, while launching shots midair, and flip around in incredibly precise and accurate methods to dodge shots from Slice, using Acid to speed up her movements. This, as well as her excellent body control, stem from her dancing practice, which has not only given her an incredibly acrobatic fighting style, but also some of the fastest reflexes in the class, which helps her pull off her agility based moves even easiers

Scaling
Jubilee

Wolverine

Jubilee has, across her years as an X-Man, fought alongside the very best at what he does. He is commonly portrayed as a far more skilled and speedy opponent than she is, but Jubilation has harmed Logan or foes equal to him with her Fireworks, and broken him out of traps his raw strength (barring Adamantium claws) can't escape. As such, she should scale to his raw physicality. Examples here.

• Wolverine scales to Cyclops, and has dodged his lightspeed lasers at point blank range

• Tanked getting punched to georgia (13.33-333.48 Tons TNT)

• He and the other X-Men were hit by an attack that shook New York (2.24 Kilotons of TNT)

• Tanked a small nuclear explosion (21.7 Kilotons of TNT)

• Wailed on a woman who was stated to have the strength to move mountains

• Endured, but was knocked out by, a concentrated blast to the head from a guy whose power was compared to that of a small nuke (1-100 Kilotons of TNT)

Marvel Street Tiers

Due to her scaling to Wolverine, one of Marvel's A-Listers in the street game, she would likely scale to their physical feats as well, and to a percentage of their speed. All 3 of the following Logan has fought and held his own with at some point, and this leads to several scaling chains, that in turn lead back to these 3 anyway. Further details will be given later, with the stats here for the nitty gritty of the debate.

Daredevil

• Matt has processed information in a nanosecond (3.33 - 5.6 x FTL)
° Beast has also done similar on a few occasions

Captain America

• Steve has tanked a mini-nuclear explosion

Deadpool

• Wade has tanked an explosion able to destroy the Hoover Dam (1.6 Kilotons)
• He has also survived a later explosion (6.4 Kilotons of TNT)

Banshee

A rather odd case for sure, but Jubilee's Atom Bomb potential has been stated to make the screams of Banshee seem like a "mere whisper". He is one of those characters who wavers between herald and street tier, like Psylocke, but the pure power output of his screams should be fair to look at
• His screams have been stated to be capable to level a small mountain

Mina Ashido

U.A Students

Due to Mina having been stated to be one of the strongest in 1A multiple times, along with her proving so in the Sports Festival and against Machia, she should compare or upscale to the feats of many of her friends/fellow students.

Ochako Uraraka

Even as far back as the USJ attack, Uraraka has proven herself as one of the frontrunners in battle. She has fared noticeably better than most of the other girls in the class, and taken on her fair share of threats. While Mina and Uraraka haven't fought, they have worked side by side in battle trials, and Mina has been stated a few times to be in 1A's upper echelon, so it's likely she should compare or exceed given neither of their Quirks boost their physical attributes. As far as Quirks go, hers is obviously superior given its larger showings.

• After a Quirk Awakening and near-death wounds, her Zero Gravity could lift all of Toga's Twice Clones into the air (7.154 - 8.787 Kilotons of TNT)
○ A little after this point in MHA, he was capable of destroying several steel cubes thrown his way while fatigued (500 Kilotons of TNT)
○ During that same fight, a similarly fatigued Todoroki froze multiple metal beams to protect All Might (575.26 Kilotons of TNT)
○ At yet another point where he was incredibly tired, Bakugo created a large tornado while preparing his Howitzer Impact (418.8 Kilotons of)
• Scales to Himiko Toga, who would compare to human Tomura Shigaraki and his surviving multiple strikes from Re-Destro (10.08 Kilotons of TNT)

Tsuyu Asui

A similar case to Uraraka, who herself has often proven equal or superior to Tsu. Her Quirk does boost her physicals a bit, but she is more or less on similar footing with a lot of the other students whose Quirks aren't amplifying their strength.

○ Kirishima required full body Hardening to shatter it (same Episode)
• Restrained one of Super Chimera's limbs, Iida getting another, and tanked getting smashed into him by the former (MHA Heroes Rising)
Tanked a punch from Jurota Shishida, who also knocked back Kirishima, Kaminari getting thrown as well later (Season 5 Episode 3/4)

Momo Yaoyorozu

The swiss-army knife to end all swiss-army knives, Momo is yet another powerhouse 1A has that Mina can scale to. There's the Festival where she made it farther, and Mina proving comparable to higher Tiers like Tokoyami, who himself defeated Momo before.

○ While these may be less durable than the original Twice/Toga and therefore require less effort to kill, that aspect would not carry to their strength and speed, which she could defend against
• Created bombs and cannons capable of stunning and harming Gigantomachia

Fumikage Tokoyami

Tokoyami is indisputably one of the strongest characters, not just in UA, but in the entire series. He's so formidable that the only reason he's not Deku's rival is the other two can exploit his weaknesses...pretty much perfectly. Despite this, Mina has surprisingly proven similar to him in several areas. In their battle, despite being scared/stunned for a moment, she still had time to react to him coming towards her, missing her attacks because she was put off-balance. Then, during Heroes Rising, her Acid was able to near-fully destroy Slice's hair, which was helping the villian defeat Black Abyss Tokoyami, who also had strength-amplifying gear and was in the darkness at this time. She could also dodge multiple of her angry attacks, which again, were overwhelming Tokoyami until he fully lost it. Then there's the fact that both of their most powerful moves could seriously harm similarly deadly characters, and she has kept up with his attack speed several times over. So when both are bringing their best, Mina should compare to his.

• Dark Shadow shielded Deku from Kaminari's electricity (Mach 478)

Gigantomachia

With Alma, her most powerful move, Mina was able to seriously injure Gigantomachia's hand, and she was able to hit him with it in the first place. Due to this showing of power, Mina should compare to this gargantuan titan, and his equally enormous levels of strength, like...

• Vaporizing a large portion of a mountain (2.3 Gigatons of TNT)
• Causing minor earthquakes and traveling tremors with his punches
° The USJ Nomu could hold his own with Current All Might and severely damage his body
° The Hood Nomu was stated to be stronger and faster than Endeavor, needing a complete bath in fire to be killed
° Shigaraki's High-End Nomu could survive point-blank exposure to several international missiles (7.912 Teratons of TNT)
° The Woman Nomu could dodge and move in tandem with several lasers fired by X-less = (0.73 % Lightspeed)
- These lasers were identified as such by her (Intelligence Quirk), moved in straight consistent lines, burned objects, and did not explode when shot at a surface. As such, they are likely light.
- Multiple mid-tier heroes and students Mina should be comparable to can keep up with these Nomu, and should be stronger by now due to story progression
• Has fought AFO directly alongside Tokoyami and Mt. Lady

OFA/AFO

One For All and All For One. These two entities are the most powerful characters in MHA, and the majority of the impressive feats and the like come from them. Despite this lofty peak, multiple characters, and Mina herself, have shown they can match this kind of power at their best. Mina has seriously harmed Machia (≈AFO), Tokoyami and Endeavor have seriously harmed AFO, and other examples/scaling chains would lead to the same power levels anyway. This also extends to other heroes that either entity has proven themselves superior to.

Deku

• Could hold his own with Shoto Todoroki at the BOS, who created a massive ice glacier over the Sports Festival with almost no effort (10.94 Megatons of TNT)
• Early Deku and weakened All Might together could defeat Wolfram and destroy this enormous cube thrown at them (174.35 Megatons of TNT)
• Deku and Shigaraki clashing created air shockwaves (5.428 Gigatons of TNT)
• His power shared with Bakugo (Essentially the same energy split while both were weakened, meaning a current Deku should match or exceed this) split the clouds above an enormous island to shatter Nine's Storm (6.89 - 68.9 Petatons of TNT)
• Deku w/ only OFA in the past has dodged and blocked multiple lasers from Flect Turn (0.65 % Lightspeed) and moved fast enough to blueshift
• A later Deku could outspeed Lady Nagant's bullets by a hefty margin
° These Bullets could fly from Tokyo to Hamamatsu before Shigaraki could lower his hand (0.635 - 1.67 X FTL as a lowball)

All For One/Shigaraki

• Shigaraki has been stated on several occasions to be just as strong as All Might in his prime
• Both wield a complete AFO Quirk, which is by proxy superior to the incomplete version wielded by Nine, who used it to instantly make a massive storm
° Nine's goal/idea of the future had him extend this storm to show in the curvature of the earth (8 Exatons)
• Shigaraki has competed with current 100% Deku, who upscales a good deal past most feats here
• Defeated Stars And Stripes, who dodged his radio waves Quirk fired at her (0.56% FTL), and he even tanked her Fist Bump To The Earth (2.75 Petatons of TNT)
• AFO has also defeated Hawks rather easily, who saved Tokoyami from AFO's blast of light (0.4-1.2 X FTL)
- This was stated to be light by AFO, and used for the purpose of taking down Dark Shadow, who is weak to light

All Might

• Created a massive storm and changed the weather while far from his prime (4.06 Teratons of TNT)
• Stated to be faster than a speeding bullet by Deku, comparing it to when he outraced Nagants bullets
• As Armored All Might (largely inferior to AFO) dodged a satellite laser he fired at him (0.64 X FTL)

Weaknesses
Jubilee

As a comic character and a Marvel Street Hero, its no surprise that Jubilee has had her fair share of unspeakably horrific days. Her powers are certainly capable of mass destruction, but her innate tendency to hold back means, even when she is actually aiming to kill other people, she doesn't exactly use her power to become a living nuke. Such examples include when her son Shogo (who was a dragon at the time, don't question it) was seriously harmed. In that instance, she lit up the attackers with massive explosions, but didn't atomize them, and later, when she was captured, she didn't do anything like that to escape her prison. Her powers are also harder to control when she gets angry, and she tends to do that...a lot, so if her opponent can get under her skin, she will be prone to losing her edge.

Mina Ashido

Despite Mina's accomplishments, she is far from perfect. Her intellect in testing is...not on the same level as Deku or Momo, and she is prone to making fatal mistakes in battle after a good scare, IE Gigantomachia and Dark Shadow. As far as her powers are concerned, while her skin is heavily resistant to her Acid, it isn't immune to it. Consistently using her highest levels of Acidity will eventually cause her skins resistant nature to fade, and it will damage her as well, like when she used Alma on Machia. She also has trouble battling human opponents due to her having to hold back the potency of her Acid so as not to, y'know, melt them into a pool of blood and dissolving bones. Due to her normal personality and goals, she will not go this far unless pushed, unless she magically decides to go all out.

Before The Verdict
Regarding Jubilee's Speed

As most of you know, the majority of Marvel's Street Tiers scale to each other via the consistent battles of several decades and such. Wolverine, Captain America, Daredevil, Deadpool, etc. These scaling chains usually place people in any number of kilotons and scaling to feats of dodging lasers or reacting in nanoseconds. Jubilee likely compares in Power to these feats…but not in Speed, which may come as a surprise. Jubilee has consistently been blitzed and outsped by people comparable to Wolverine, or Logan himself, and when I say consistently, I mean very consistently. Below are a list of all the times she had been outsped, saved, or blitzed by a street tier hero similar to Logan, and the comic names/issues to back it up.
So yeah. Pretty %$#&ing consistent. Another factor that supports this is when Jubilee was turned into a vampire a while after she lost her powers. This transformation was established to clearly boost her stats, like her speed. So how does this prove anything? Well, she STILL can not keep up with any of the Logan-Tier heroes when they are actually trying. Her Vampire speed stats are as such. Refer to this list for the images, as i realized one collection would be better than checking like 50 plus examples of it

● Landed 2 hits on Logan [She cheated and hit him when he wasn't expecting it, and the second was legit, but he let her do it] (Wolverine And Jubilee Issue 2)
● Dodged a slash from X-23, and Laura believed Jubilee capable of killing her [Later Laura casually blocked an attack from her in strength and speed] (X-23 Volume 3 Issue 10-11)
- This was more because she was a Predator type thing and Logan/Gambit just wouldn't. Later, Laura Casually blocked an attack from her in strength and speed, and
with the Trigger Scent, Jubilee partially dodged a slash (it still hit her arm) and got hit when trying to dodge again
● Dodged hits from and fought swords with a Kabuki warrior who caught Storm and Raizo Kodo [fought Psylocke in previous issue] off guard (X-Men Volume 3 Issue 26). In this instance, neither Storm/Kodo could really react to him because he snuck up on them and didn't actually outpace their reactions, simply using stealth and gadgets to subdue them.
● Fought Nazi Vampires with Captain America (A±X Issue 12)
- Later he took out a bunch of them she was fighting pretty easily, surprising her, and she said he didn't need her help
● Dodged and called slow by Gambit in a game (X-23 Volume 3 Issue 10) (Think I messed my notes up and I forgot the right issue number for this)

So yeah. She gets blitzed as her human self, and outsped even as a Vampire, which boosted her speed. To address any counter arguments, below are all the examples of trying to scale Jubilee to Street Tier speed stuff, and why they aren't usable, or any other case of the nature. Same picture list as before.
  • Dodged a dash attack from a mind controlled Wolverine (XM 1991 Issue 11) [Her plan was to piss him off to turn off his mind control, her ducking being more like cowering, because she said herself that if he wasn't back to normal, he'd hit her. He didn't hit her because he was able to break free of the mind control thanks to her help]
  • Took some villains by surprise that appeared to fight Domino and Kitty (Hunt For Wolverine: Mystery In Madripoor Issue 3) and dodged another next issue. [Not really applicable for speed because of her, you know, taking them by surprise and not actually outspeeding their reactions/movement speed; them not expecting it]
  • Appeared to be about to block/counterattack an alternate dimension Deadpool/Wolverine guy who's really a Multiple Man (Multiple Man Issue 1). [He would've if not for Kitty Phasing her. Kitty is also faster than her, and Jubilee wasn't shown blocking because somebody stopped the fight, and his attack]
  • Appeared to be fighting an alternate dimension version of herself that was a vampire Wolverine (Uncanny X-Men: Winters End). Never happened in the story.
  • Lady Deathstrike tackled her to the ground, and Jubilee blinded her before she could kill her (X-Man Legends Issue 8). [Jubilee blasting her is indeed an argument, but she was tackled/attacked first in the first place, and could only counter because Deathstrike didn't go for a killing blow first]
  • Hit Omega Red...while he was distracted (X-Men Legends Issue 8)
  • Appeared to be sparing with Logan in a flashback (Origins Of Marvel Comics X-Men). [A decent example. If not for the fact that it is a sparring match where he is obviously holding back, which is shown in how many times people on his level have outsped her when serious]
  • Ranked the same as Bishop, Colossus, Cyclops, Dazzler, Emma Frost, Gambit, Kitty Pryde, Havok, Juggernaut, Psylocke (2) in a handbook (Marvel Encyclopedia: X-Men), and Ranked a 2 [Cable, Mystique, Psylocke, while X-23 and Colossus are a 3] (Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe 2005 X-Men). [The problem with these are they group her in the same demographic as heralds (Colossus, Havok, Juggernaut, Cable) and are more based on how they appear to be most of the time, rather than the actual shown speeds of the characters. If one were to buy this logic, Wolverine would blitz all of these guys via being a point above. If one were to exclude the heralds from these instances, you'd still have the characters shown to be superior to Jubilee and each other and whatnot all grouped in the same thing, which isn't the best logic all things considered]
Other than these, there are a few examples of her fighting alongside other heroes that could net scaling, such as Psylocke, Wolverine, other X-Men, or other heroes/villians entirely. This logic would work if they were fighting the same guy; one who is a street tier, but practically ALL of the examples for this are against common thugs and monsters, whose only purpose is to be fodder for everybody to take out. The only exceptions are Hobgoblin and fighting Sentinels with Wolverine, but those are largely context specific details that prevent any real scaling to them. The battle with Hobgoblin isn't actually shown, only formatted as a sort of friends rescue type thing. It also involves heralds (War Machine and Storm) and I don't really need to tell you why that has issues. The thing with Sentinels is that they are not exactly up close boxing with Wolverine or whoever; more so overwhelming in Power and combining that with counters to their powers. In her fights with Sentinels, Jubilee usually is subject to a chance opening to really cut loose, which is enough to severely hinder a critical part of their programming or something. Other examples have her blasting out specific parts in their body to make them crash while flying, or running from them with Wolverine, which isn't really reaction Speed: it's him trying to help her get out of there alive.

In conclusion, she consistently gets outsped by Wade/Steve/Logan/Matt tier characters, vampire or no, and all other examples or arguments for keeping up with them are against fodder foes, in held back scenarios, or in instances where the plot allows her chances to do so by having, say, Deathstrike not gut her on the first attack. Granted, she should be in the same ballpark to an extent, because of the few examples where she had been able to react at all. However much you want to give her is up to you, but most people agree in order to blitz somebody, you need to be roughly 5-10 times faster at least for a general number, and thus, she should be that much slower than these characters.

MHA Lasers/Light Feats

Something MHA has is a...let's say discrepancy over, are the more high tier laser calculations in the series. Starting off, let's talk about the big one: Aoyama. His Quirk, Naval Laser, blasts a laser out of his bellybutton, and this is subject to HEAVY controversy on whether or not the laser is actually lightspeed. As such, I will go over all of its characteristics and lay them out for you to read, since everybody is free to use their own conclusions.

Name

Izuku instinctively thinks Aoyama's quirk is a laser
Called a beam by Aoyama (Episode 5 and Season 2 Episode 8 flashback to it)
Referred to as a laser by Thirteen (Season 2 Episode 23)
Called a Laser Beam by a Quirk Description (Season 2 Episode 24, Season 4 Episode 24)
Called it again (Season 3 Episode 18)
Called a Laser by a Reporter/his official story (Season 4 Episode 1)
Aoyamas quirk is referred to as a laser by the quirk explanation (Chapter
His laser is referred to as one by Horikoshi describing quirk training
Aoyama called his Quirk beams in the Ultra Archive

So it's been referred to as a laser and a laser beam by intellectual individuals who know about his powers and how they work, as well as the story itself.

Effects/Characteristics
Composure

When Aoyama fires his naval laser at Thirteen, she, who was put up against him and would likely know about his quirk, said her quirk can absorb light too, and she does just that (Chapter 67/anime equivalent)
In Aoyama's costume bio, his glasses are there "to keep him from being blinded by his own light" (Chapter 67)
Mina came up with an idea (probably knows how Aoyama's Quirk works) to use the "light twinkling off Aoyama" and his powers in a disco ball like move (Season 4 Episode 19)
Momo instructed him to shoot a bunch of lasers to light up a dark area, with him saying "my light" will do so, Tokoyami covering Dark Shadow with his cloak so it wouldn't weaken him (Season 5 Episode 5)
Kendo planned to use the shadow guy against Tokoyami, and the only way to get rid of him is with light, so when Aoyama used his Quirk, that meant the plan failed (find Episode later)
Torus quirk, which works by using light, was specifically used on Aoyama's naval laser, and her stating exactly so, but she bent it (Chapter 256/Season 5 Episode 25)
Caught it to do so
Toru blocks Aoyama's laser, saying her Quirk reflects light, and that's why she could do so (Chapter 337)
Toru uses "Warp Refraction" on Aoyama's laser, bouncing it back (Chapter 399)
After that, Toru, per Aoyama's instructions, "adjust the strength of my light to burn the roots" when they needed these plant things burned away
(Chapter 400)

Effects

Blasted a hole in a rock and burned it to leave a message on it [smoke left after] (Season 4 Episode 17)
His laser pointed at a rock thing evoked dust while impacting it, but didn't explode, the power of his laser/Mina's acid leaving burn marks in its wake
Mineta "Aoyama, use your belly beam!" Aoyama "You mean Naval Laser!" And it burned clean through in a line several Burnaby rope like creatures
Exploded when fired at max output against the ground in fiery bursts, with Aoyama saying some leaked out
Later him using it while fatigued had it spread out upon impact with Nine's shield (MHA Heroes Rising)
His laser focused on a type of rock did not explode, stretching a bit, but did not burned because the durability like Aoyama said (Season 5 Episode 6)
Sero "The beam curved" when Toru did her thing, with it making a dust explosion after sue to the robots exploding with Toru saying "I learned to take light and bend it to my will!" (Season 5 Episode 25)
Toru was using it to burn some vines (Chapter 406)

So across these various instances, it has been proven and shown to be composed of legitimate light, or else Thirteen and Toru's Quirks would not have worked the way they did, or their explanations would have been flat out false which…isn't the case. It has also been shown to move in straight linear lines, burn objects, and is focused through his belt, which appears to be a sort of Lense for focusing it.

Anti-Feats/Discrepancies

Other things people use to say Aoyama's laser can't be a true laser; a lightspeed laser, are fairly frequent. His Laser has been shown to bend and be manipulated to bend by either his flickering out or Hakagures Manipulation of light. It also reflects off some surfaces it should not, oozes out of his body from time to time, has exploded instead of burned multiple times when fired in stronger blasts, and shown force, like propelling him through the air. My answer to a few of these is simply that Aoyama's body wasn't made for his Quirk, and this ties into how it is released from his body. He has outright stated before that without his belt his laser sometimes just leaks out, because of how hard it is to keep it up, due to his Quirkless Body beforehand. While that would fix the whole leaking problem, the others still exist, and other people have their own thoughts on it. Due to this, I'll largely leave it out of the Verdict, and focus on the more concrete arguments that people can solidly agree on.

Next are the other lasers that we see fired off from multiple people, first being Flect Turn. His lasers are directly stated to be light, and burn surfaces, but also evoke dust on the floor, ergo, force. This is debatable, but I personally believe it is fine to use.

Now, let's discuss the easy to prove ones that are scientifically accurate through and through. Shigaraki's Radio Waves are just what they are, which are light speed in movement, AFO's blast of light is that in its name by his admission and its usage in weakening Tokoyami (who is weak to light), AAM's satellite laser is just that and has been proven so, and the recently discovered lasers of X-Less. These lasers were called that by a hyper-intelligent Nomu, were straight consistent lines that were focused through his eye Lense, burned objects like the nomus skin and a container until it exploded, not actually exploding against it, and no force was shown from it. All 4 of these have consistent evidence in being lasers/lightspeed, and the backing for this level of speed is pretty decent in MHA. The majority of these feats net similar numbers, and the higher tier results like Hawks saving Tokoyami is also comparable to the higher end of Lady Nagant's bullets speed, which has been surpassed by Deku. Long and short of it is, the high tiers of MHA are upscaling from mid-high relativistic speeds, ranging from 0.5-0.7 x FTL, by a decent margin at the the very least. Realistically they are even faster with their higher end feats reaching into FTL, like Nagant's Bullets.

How Their Powers Work

Allow me a brief explanation on the complexities of Plasma/Atomic Bombs and Acid, so as to describe what exactly they do.

Plasma is the result of gas heated to an insane degree of ionization. The degree I'm talking about is so grandiose that the electrons in the gas are forcibly ripped away, forming an ionized gas. It is often called the 4th state of matter, like the 3 every kid who went to School knows about; Solid, Liquid, and Gas. Just as a boiling liquid will boil and change into a gas when the energy to heat it is added, heating a gas will form a plasma; a mixture of positive Photons and negative Anions. Jubilee's Fireworks can use the multiple different effects of plasma just fine, including the super hot aspect to blow robots and people up without a hitch.

The Atomic Bomb bit is, as Jubilee herself explains it, her combusting molecules and even atoms, detonating matter on the subatomic level. Assuming it means a literal nuclear blast, that essentially means she would split an atom, and the resulting energy would make the explosion.

For Acid and from this article, the simplest form of an Acid is a substance that turns blue litmus paper red. This was first discovered over 500 years ago by Antoine Lavoiser, which essentially states that a base (key part in Acid reactions) is a simple element, like phosphor, carbon, or sulfur. Add oxygen to these however, and you get an oxidized form of each in the form of Acid; Phosphoric, Carbonic, Sulfuric, and so on.

Essentially, an Acid will add a positively charged Hydrogen particle to water, and a base will add a negatively charged iron particle. Protons and Anions, or more accurately, a Hydrogen atom sans electrons, and an OH Iron atom/oxygen bonded to hydrogen with an extra electron. A base will add negative particles, and an Acid will add positive particles. An Acid will have too much of a positive charge, and without a base of negative Ions to balance things out, than it is an Acid.

This is important because particles try to have a neutral charge; no positive or negative extra particles, and thus, any extra weight will go around in the solution to find a place to make another particle whole. This process finishes in the solution forcibly taking the necessary particles to make itself whole, dissolving substances, and taking their particles to make itself whole, hence Acid. It forcibly devours the electrons in other substances to be complete, but it's other positive particles already outnumber how much it will receive, and thus, it will keep taking and taking and taking, dissolving matter on the molecular level and destroying practically anything.

For example, the two most known kinds of Acid are Hydrochloric and Sulfuric. The former is a naturally occurring Acid that can be found in the stomachs of mammals and the gastric juices of humans; both for the purpose of breaking down food and nutrients when in the stomach. It is formed industrially by dissolving gaseous Hydrogen chlorine in water, and can easily dissolve all kinds of metal by liberating the Hydrogen gas from the solution.

Mina's Acid is sort of a composite of all Acid, with her having to increase its traits manually for different effects, and it has shown it can burn practically anything she needs it to. Wood, brick, metal, clothing, even the absurdly durable durability of characters like Slice and Gigantomachia.

TLDR, Acid will, once interacting with a substance without the necessary negative charged particles to lower its overall charge, dissolve it into nothing given long enough exposure, looking for the charge to normalize it. It will bypass durability entirely unless you have a select material that can resist it, like her suit is made of.

Verdicts

Asura

Yo this is Asura. Most of y’all probably recognize me from helping with R1 blogs before or even from other blogs or discord. Anyways let’s get onto the blog.

Let us begin with stats, more specifically strength/durability. To start with Jubilee scales to other street tiers obviously which as most people know, get town level, the highest of which can get to 100 Kilotons even though they are more consistently in the lower level of kiloton. However, using her strongest attack, she would get around 46.95 Petatons. While impressive, it takes a few seconds to charge up and it’s very likely a last resort move given the fact she doesn’t want to harm innocent civilians on earth. Now let us move on to Mina. Mina also funnily enough can scale to town level. The thing is though, Mina can scale way higher into town level than Jubilee can. Mina can scale to feats which get 418 kilotons and 500 kilotons which match and surpass Jubilee’s highest base stats. However, Mina has even higher feats which scale to outside of Base in her Acidman form such as, the many megatons feats, 5.428 Gigatons, 174.35 Gigatons, 7.912 Teratons, and even 6.89 - 68.9 Petatons of TNT. Mina at base is way stronger than Jubilee and her peak can match Jubilee’s strongest attack.

Now onto speed. Jubilee likely downscales from street tiers which get around 5.6c. Depending on how you downscale Jubilee, she will likely get to around 1c. This is due to the fact a speed blitz is likely around a 5x speed gap and she often gets speed blitzed by other street tiers. Now Mina scales and even possibly upscales to 64%, 65%, and 73% the SoL. This doesn’t make Jubilee too much faster and if you buy Mina upscaling than she likely is equal in speed go Jubilee.

Now onto abilities. It’s very likely both could end the fight with one attack given the nature of their abilities being durability negating. However, due to the similar speeds it’s hard to say one would get their ability off first or win in a quick draw. This leads in to the factor of who has more skill.

If one has more skill and experience, it’s likely they are the more likely one to be able to get their ability to hit before the other. Their skill and experience is fairly similar as both have gotten trained by some of the best of the best and have been in combat situations many times. While Jubilee likely has more experience, she also struggles with someone who can get close, which Mina can do thanks to the fact she can form acid from the bottom of her feet and use it as a skate. So while Jubilee may have more experience, Mina’s skill and way she can use her acid can counter and cover up for this, making it fairly even again for the both of them. However, another issue is that if Jubilee begins to lose her cool, her powers could begin to diminish and Mina could use the chance to get an opportunity to get an attack off. Another factor in skill is Jubilee is basically like Megumi in the fact she is “Potential Woman”. She has been stated to have such great potential for a while, while Mina has already showed an amazing understanding of her abilities and its potential. This could possibly show that Mina possibly has more skill than even the more experienced Jubilee.

While this debate is pretty interesting, I think the low key bad acid girl wins due to better stats, similar skills and experience, and an ability which can one shot Jubilee.

The winner is Mina Ashido

Discount Ginger

So to begin, lets start with stats, because these are the most basic things to cover, and in this MU, some of the least relevant. Physically they generally scale equally to each other, both have equal showings of AP and Durability, and with Jubilee failing to consistently scale to the low FTL feats, Mina ends up taking a solid, although not entirely major, speed advantage.

However, the real meat and potatoes of this matchup is in their abilities, and how each heroine applies it. And this is where Mina hits her stride. Because Jubilee, despite her great training at Professor Xavier’s academy, has never truly pushed herself to find the limits of what she can do with her powers. Esoteric applications such as brain hemorrhaging are always hypotheticals, never abilities she consistently shows or attempts. Meanwhile Mina keeps looking for new ways to apply her acid. From ranged attacks with Acid Rain, creating shields, protecting herself from heat, Alma, the list goes on and on. Ultimately this same willingness to explore her powers also gives Mina a very solid knowledge advantage as well, and means that in a fight she would be the first to explore new options to beat Jubilee. While Jubilee’s fear of her powers would only serve to hold her back.

Finally, the reason this comparison of abilities matter is because either character could, if given the opportunity, completely destroy the other with a single attack. Jubilee’s Atom Bomb could certainly kill Mina if she ever had the chance to use it. However given its long wind up and Jubilee’s natural fear of her own capabilities, its far more likely that Mina will find an opening to use her acid first, while also keeping herself safe from Jubilee’s fireworks with her defensive applications of her quirk.

Jubilee is a powerful force to be reckoned with. And her raw explosive might can certainly allow her to win in many situations. But Mina’s greater versatility, better experience and knowledge of her quirk, and slight speed advantage ultimately allow her to win the day.

Kiru

Hello, I’m Kiru, and I’ve helped R1F with other blogs, with verdicts and calcs, and today will be no different.

First off, I think it’s very obvious that Jubilee is outmatched in AP. However, that is if you think that the Nine’s Storm feat was at 100%, because if not, then Jubilee would be about 1.3x AP difference, due to her 47 Petaton feat. There is also the future Nine Storm, which is around 8 Exatons. She scales to that because AFO/Shiggy have a complete version of AFO, but Nine didn’t. I believe she could scale to that.

Onto speed, and it’s definitely closer. It really comes down to Jubilee and her scaling to Daredevil, which is debatable. Many, and I mean many times it’s been shown that she is slower then street tiers like Wolverine, Daredevil, Capt. America, and others. But on the other hand, handbooks say that she is on the same level. So which is it? I don’t think she should get speed scaling to them.

R1F provided, a lot of links that lead to points where Jubilee couldn’t react, and people had to intervene to save her. This doesn’t mean she’s slow, but she can get blitzed very easily. Due to this, at best I believe she’s moving at half the speed of light, which is still fast, mind you, but Mina is just a bit faster.

Through scaling to Gigantomachia, who she was able to damage using her ultimate move, Alma, she should get scaling to a Woman Nomu, who could dodge beams by X-less. This comes in at around 70% the speed of light, just .35x faster than Jubilee. While it is definitely close, I do believe it matters, especially when it comes down to their abilities.

Jubilee’s mutation is making explosions that can function atomically small. Mina’s Quirk is acid, which can melt things to the point that it will leave no trace. Jubilee can do that, but she’s only done it twice over her 30+ year span of comics. Her normal abilities, like her Fireworks, can act on the sub-atomic level, and only her big f*$k off explosion works on the atomic level.

For Mina, she can adjust her viscosity, or power of her acid. It’s already been stated that she can melt anything, and leave no trace. Add things like her ultimate move, Alma, and Jubilee’s screwed. They both do have long range options, I don’t think Jubilee’s Fireworks would be too effective. Even considering that she could hemorrhage your brain, that’s the thing. Could hemorrhage your brain. She hasn’t shown anything like that over her 30+ year run.

There is an edge that Jubilee has, and that’s experience. Being trained by one of the best (and coolest) X-Men, Wolverine, is no small thing to talk about. He’s been going strong for almost 40 years now! She’s also been trained by a multi-century old samurai, Raido. Mina has had her fair share of training, but I doubt it’ll come anywhere near Jubilee’s.

She has better stats and better abilities, that she doesn’t need to amp up to make it dangerous. It casually can just one shot Jubilee. With all this adding up, I believe that in the end, Mina wins.

The Dark Lore Master

Hi it’s me, The Dark Lore Master and I have to say, this is a close match so at first glance it would appear that Jubilee has more advantages, she has better feats than Mina, she appears to have better abilities, and more experience however once you start looking into the match Mina begins looking far more impressive,

In this match strength isn’t too much of a factor because acid isn’t like a punch or a bomb, it melts things down meaning that Jubilee being tougher won’t matter when every attack Mina throws out will be coated in acid, melting Jubilee “down to nothing” and even if Jubilee could resist the acid by being tougher it’s worth noting that Mina’s strongest attack could hurt Gigantomachia, who without scaling is about as strong as The Banshee which is the highest Jubilee’s normal fireworks can scale. Granted, Jubilee’s strongest attack easily drawfs The Banshee’s Japan feat, but remember, Gigantomachia has fought All for One, and AFO was likely stronger than Deku destroying Nine’s Storm, meaning that Mina’s strongest attack is stronger than Jubilee’s strongest attack, so Mina absolutely should be able to melt Jubilee

Next speed (the hard part) so Mina is pretty solid in her speed, she should scale to the Female Nomu who can move at speeds of about .73 times the speed of light and with some leniency scale to the light speed reactions of people like Deku and Shiggy, the hard part comes with Jubilee so several guidebooks state that she should be on par in speed with folks like Wolverine and Daredevil moving at 5.6 times the speed of light however in d@mn near every fight with them she is either notably slower or just plain getting blitzed meaning that she shouldn’t scale to them, it’s hard to determine how fast Jubilee actually is but no matter which way you look at it Jubilee should likely be slower than Mina meaning that Mina is more likely to land her acid on Jubilee than Jubilee is to land a decisive firework on Mina

Finally abilities: while granted Jubilee does have a very useful power it’s not really gonna help against Mina, the best move that Jubilee has against Mina is the flash bang to blind Mina but Mina can just use the acid man armor to make sure that Jubilee can’t capitalize on Mina’s blindness, the smokescreen and propulsion can only really be used to get away however Mina can just throw and/or spray her acid at Jubilee so distance really isn’t a problem for her and Mina can also just use her acid for higher mobility so Jubilee will have a hard time putting distance between her and Mina also Mina strongest attack (The Alma) is large enough to where Jubilee will almost certainly not be able to dodge (it’s also worth noting that Jubilee has had trouble dealing with people who can get up close and personal while also dodging her bombs so Jubilee would struggle against someone like Mina similar to how she struggled against Sabertooth and Omega Red) while yes Jubilee does have her “Brain Hemorrhage” ability she has never used that ability in her 30 years of publication and so I doubt she’ll pull that power out against some random high schooler

It’s worth noting that Jubilee does have better gadgets and experience (along with saving Christmas so that gets her a few points in my book) but that’s not really gonna help all too much against Mina, who is faster, stronger, and has better abilities so ultimately I’m giving the win to Mina Ashido.

Toxin T Taker

Yo, I’m Toxin, and I’ve collaborated with R1F before on one of my very first blogs, asking him for a verdict on a matchup of mine. I myself am a big fan of MHA and although I know very little about Jubilee, I’ll gladly give my take on who comes out on top in a fight.

First off, let’s talk pure stats. Comparing their overall stats, they could actually be considered *somewhat* equals. One could make the argument that they can be close in terms of AP and speed with all their kiloton to petaton level feats and their ability to keep up with heroes that can react at relativistic to light speeds. However, after I educated myself on where these two scale, I do think Mina takes the categories of both AP and speed.

Strength wise, it becomes clear that Mina is unmatched in terms of physical fighting ability and possibly even AP if you believe in Nine’s Storm feats being at 100% (more on that in a second). Mina not only has greater experience in fighting up close and personal than Jubilee but the AP scaling she does get is a lot more consistent than what’s been said about Jubilee. Mina can scale above the likes of Uraraka and Gigantomachia who are able to output AP in the kiloton and gigaton ranges, and at her highest, Mina can be scaled to the users of OFA and AFO, more specifically Deku and his Nine Storm feat and even AFO himself who are both comfortably in the petaton range (more specifically, 68.9 petatons of TNT at its highest). Meanwhile, the greatest amount of AP Jubilee has outputted is when she blew up the Collector’s ship which comes around to 47 petatons of TNT. Unless you decide to not consider the Nine Storm feat, then Mina should take AP.

These stats are very important to consider when we move on to their abilities. Their AP is directly tied into their abilities in the fact that they both need to use tons of energy to get the maximum output out of their powers. The very nature of their powers mean that at their very best, Jubilee and Mina could potentially one shot each other. Jubilee’s explosions can destroy at the subatomic level while Mina’s acid dissolved anything it comes in contact with, and neither have shown any resistance against these kinds of hax so it would come down to their speed, experience and arsenals.

Onto speed, this category is seemingly close at first. They’ve both been able to keep up with characters that could move at relativistic speeds such as Daredevil and Deku, but only one has, yet again, more consistent feats. Nothing against Jubilee of course but the speed scaling she does get tends to differ from being slower than the likes of Wolverine and Captain America to statements mentioning that she should be at their level. That being said, I do think Jubilee shouldn’t get the speed scaling. Meanwhile, Mina has not shown as much of a struggle with keeping up with Deku and AFO, hence why I’d give speed to Mina too.

We already talked about speed so in terms of experience, Jubilee has the natural upperhand by having a few more years at her hand. She’s been able to use her powers creatively and learned from the best of the best in her time at Xavier’s school. She’s learnt everything from martial arts to fighting at a distance, and even outside of fighting, she’s an experienced thief and can patch her wounds extremely quick. Meanwhile, Mina has shown to be physically impressive, having great agility and the ability to combat from up close and afar. She’s shown just how capable she is in a fight, being able to fight enemies far stronger than Jubilee has at a consistent rate. Both have experienced and fought against some of the best in their area but Mina has generally been able to come out on top a lot more despite her flaws, so fighting experience goes to Mina.

As for arsenals, both are pretty creative with how they use their powers. Jubilee is able to use the fireworks she created to blind her opponents, blast herself around the air Bakugo-style, and create large explosions that consume the area around her. These are all really impressive powers but other than her usual arsenal, she doesn’t really have anything that can truly put down Mina. In fact, not only does Mina have the more versatile arsenal but she has counters to almost everything Jubilee can throw at her. Mina can use acid as shields to block Jubilee’s blasts, move around quicker by releasing acid from her feet, or coat herself in acid with Acidman, allowing her to protect her body from Jubilee’s explosions even better than before. Overall, not only are Mina’s attacks much simpler to land on Jubilee, but she has shown much more control over her own powers than Jubilee has.

This ties nicely into their weaknesses, a factor that I think is what decides who wins this matchup. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, Mina has far less exploitable weaknesses than Jubilee. Jubilee is a great fighter, but her weaknesses range from not having the best control and consistency (wow I use that word a lot) over her powers to her unwillingness to kill halting the growth of her powers’ full potential, to her tendency to get angry, which causes the loss of her powers’ control to begin with. Meanwhile, Mina isn’t exactly safe from making mistakes on the battlefield too, especially if she gets scared by a much larger threat. She isn’t entirely immune from the effects of her own acid and she usually holds back unless she’s pushed to her limit. That said however, Mina has been able to show a much cooler head when fighting her bigger battles and hasn’t lost as many battles as Jubilee has, which is why I consider Mina to have less weaknesses.

Looking at all the data given, there is a very clear pattern here. Jubilee may be a great fighter and can certainly hold her own in a fight but Mina can outstat her, has the better arsenal and ability control, has more one-shot potential, more experience and will not hold back once she’s pushed too far. With all that being said, Jubilee will put one hell of a fight but I believe Mina is the winner here.

Round 1 Fight

What's up guys? 'Bout time I was able to finish this one, as I've been reading comics for Jubilee for multiple months, and binged the entirety of MHA while doing so, all to research this match I've been trying to get people into. In my humble opinion, it is the best for both (tho to be fair Mina has other options like Nora from RWBY) and I'm hoping people will warm up to it due to this blog. Enough of my rambling though, let's get into who I think wins this one!

Starting off with Stats, surprisingly, both are near neck and neck each other…in most regards. In terms of physical ability, both of them can scale to characters with several kiloton level feats fairly easily, with multiple calculations extending beyond that and getting even farther on the food chain. If I were to give an edge to either, it would most likely be Mina, as she fights physically more than Jubilee does, and has higher feats of scaling on top of over time increases that require less stretches to get her to, like Uraraka tanking Bakugo's Explosions in the Sports Festival, or Mirio (physically stronger than Bakugo). However, both of their pinnacles FAR exceed this, and yet again, they are evenly matched.

Both of their abilities essentially bypass durability, and are not exactly "power" based, but the way they work does require strength/energy, and thus will be listed regardless. Jubilee's destroying the Collectors ship nets 46 Petatons of TNT, while Mina being on the same level of OFA/AFO with her Alma would upscale her from several Petaton feats and put her on roughly the same playing field, if not higher should Nine's Storm vision come into play. Mina's Acid is treated as varying in power based on her strategy, with the lower levels not harming her classmates, and the higher ones being practically on par with the best in 1A. Due to how her Acid is essentially a jack of all trades and composition of Acid, having a power metric is rather weird, but acceptable nonetheless. Jubilee on the other hand is a literal living nuke, atomizing matter on a vast scale, and this does require energy for it, so really, both can be measured in AP, despite it not exactly mattering for the purposes of the result.

Due to how their powers work, both Jubilee and Mina can essentially kill each other in one hit at their best. Atomic level annihilation is a given, and Acid forcibly dissolves practically anything it touches. Neither has shown any resistance to the others kind of powers before, so it would likely come down to tertiary factors, how their general abilities countered each other, and a Quickdraw, to decide who would get their win-condition off first.

With the first topic, both are surprisingly similar in most factors. Jubilee has had a few more years of experience, more skilled teachers, and generally greater showings of those kinds of things. Mina on the other hand has fought alongside and against far more experienced/skilled foes before, and fights up close and personal more in comparison. What's more, her powers generally require her to be smart with how she fights, and her manipulating so leads to a greater scale of combat intelligence. As such, it's difficult to give either one a select edge in this category, mostly going to Jubilee being more skilled, both fighting more experienced foes, and Mina having more experience hand to hand and greater smarts.

In terms of how their powers interact, both have a variety of methods to use their powers that can trip the other up in several ways. Jubilee can blast herself around the arena, try blinding Mina with her Fireworks, make large blasts and beams for superior AOE, and more. However, when it comes to hax or anything more deadly than her standard moveset, she is surprisingly lacking. Mina on the other hand, is far more versatile in the applications of her powers, and she has far more options to screw over Jubilation than the other way around. For starters, her Acid gives her superior mobility, and she has used this as a means for so much more consistently than Jubilee has. Her Acid's versatile execution and her control over it also lets her do things like form shields to block Jubilee's powers through Acid Veil, reach Jubilee from greater lengths away with an Acid Rain, Acid Shot, or Acid Layback, and cover her physical body from heat and energy attacks with Acidman, just like Jubilee's Fireworks. Her powers overall are easier to land on Jubilee than vice versa, and even more so when you consider she can do this via a simple touch, with ANY part of her body as her Quirk allows her to do.

This gets even worse for Jubilee when you compare the One-shot aspects of Mina's Quirk and Jubilee's powers. While it is true Jubilee can destroy matter on the subatomic level, and her powers could theoretically be used to short out the synapses of you brain, or give them hemorrhages, Jubilee herself hasn't really explored the depths and applications of her powers. All of the examples of how her powers CAN be used are just that; hypothetical examples. She herself hasn't shown she can "short out the synapses of your brain", even barring her “no-kill” rule, like when her son was nearly murdered. Instead of, say, using any one of her one-tap powers, she instead opted to make a big blast, and that's the main problem. Her only method of instantly killing, or even killing Mina for that matter, is the atomic level destruction, and any other example of her powers is something she has never done herself, due to her canonically not exploring these murderous edges to her powers. As far as the nuke option goes, it is a real possibility, however, Jubilee is unlikely to be able to do this in her casual blasts, which is a real issue here, as I'll explain.

Essentially, Jubilee has been stated to have this potential for years. However, her powers were only used to do so twice, and neither instance was anything casual or normal; just a giant blast, both having issues of their own. Just like the earlier example, Jubilee hasn't shown sufficient examples of using these kinds of methods due to not exploring this area of her powers to shown she can just blast nuke fireworks easily. As the only examples are full-on nuke options, it is practically her only method of victory due to how similar their base stats are barring the MHA multipliers. Next, both instances have flaws in them that do Jubilee no favors here. The first example, which was a nuke and destroyed matter on the subatomic level, was not a perfect solution. The nanotechnology robots they were used on were still mostly intact, as were the buildings around them; not exactly a matter-wiping blast that would instantly kill Mina. The second instance is certainly fair, but it required multiple seconds of charging where she wasn't interrupted to fully do this, and after it was done, Jubilee was a little out of it. So she needs time, no matter how small, to use this move, and no interruptions on her person to stop her.

Now let's compare this to Mina's powers, and why exactly she pulls ahead here. Unlike Jubilee, Mina can quite literally switch her powers from non-lethal to instant death with no issue whatsoever. Her altering the viscosity of her Acid is exactly that; changing the lethality of her powers, and this is no stretch in logic either. We've seen in MHA how Mina initially struggled fighting human opponents due to having to hold back her powers, and when she has fought things like robots or inhuman monsters, she easily switches up her Acid's power and takes them out in one shot. Many of her moves require her to alter this section of her powers, and that's really her biggest advantage here: Mina has legitimately dove into the fatal potential of her powers, while Jubilee has not. She has a greater knowledge of her abilities, and thus would be more likely to get hers off first. Then comes the question of who would use their best first, and Mina is still superior in this field. Like I've said, all she needs to do is raise her Acid's viscosity and Jubilee is finished, let alone higher variations of the move like Acidman and Alma. Jubilee on the other hand has to use her big nuke option, and what's more, she has to use it before Mina can kill her, which leads up to speed.

On Jubilee's side, she was thought to be on the same scale as other street tier heroes, like Wolverine or Daredevil. However, this is surprisingly not the case, given she has frequently gotten blitzed by people on Wolverine's level, like his villains such as Sabretooth or Omega Red, allies like Gambit and X-23, and more, even when her speed was boosted as a Vampire. Granted, she has a few instances of comparison like in sparring sessions or lucky shots, but the many outweigh the few, and she has shown to be inferior on several occasions to these heroes. Still, any percentage of their speed at all is impressive, given the numerous nanosecond level feats from guys like DD, Beast, and Cyclops. These tend to get 3.33-5.5 x FTL, so, how much would Jubilee get? Well, there is surprisingly a ratio people tend to agree on for blitzing purposes, and it usually falls in line with 5-10 times difference, which I've consulted the other members of this verdict on before, and they agree with these numbers. So, Jubilee would fall somewhere in between 0.66-1.1 x the speed of light just assuming a division of 5 from 5.5 x FTL, which is the higher end as opposed to the 3.33 x FTL calculation by the way.

Turning to Mina, she would scale to multiple feats of high relativistic to outright FTL feats, and beyond, given who performs these, who upscales, and how she scales to all of this. As for the how, Mina has proven herself an equal to the best in 1A several times before, and is practically on par with Tokoyami, who himself at his best can match AFO. She herself is faster than fellow students like Froppy, who can dodge attacks from Near-High Ends, and comparable to others who have fought High-Ends, like Nejire Hado or any of the weaker heroes in the Hospital Raid such as Aizawa. These characters and the feats they scale to are no joke either, as Deku and several others at this point have achieved high relativistic speeds, like dodging Flect Turns laser, or the High-End Nomu with that of X-Less at 0.73% the speed of light. This goes further with Deku heavily outpacing even faster relativistic bullets that are likely FTL based on their Shigaraki feat, his going fast enough to blueshift (lightspeed) and largely weaker characters like Armored All Might dodging a satellite laser at high relativistic speeds. The large point in all this is Mina upscaling or even scaling to these feats at all place her in the FTL range, if not faster by a decent margin. To put it bluntly, Mina reaches similar levels to Jubilee's downscaling that already grants her the high-end  benefit of the doubt, just through the pure feats: Barring Mina likely getting even faster after the over time power boosts she has received.

So really, Mina being faster is already another nail in Jubilee's coffin, but the final one is simply that when comparing what kinds of heroes they are and what their powersets entail, Mina just has a far easier time using her powers at their maximum potential, both in character and in how her powers work. She has multiple ways to distribute her Acid, via rain, shielding, shots, or simply touch, and she's had no trouble getting in close with ranged foes and pissing off her opponents in the past, like Aoyama in the Sports Festival. Sure, Jubilee can kill her with her Atom Bomb, but its charging time leaves her open to counterattack, and Mina, being faster and having no such time constriction, will be able to exploit this and kill her before she can use her greatest weapon. All of this stems from the fact that Jubilee’s fear of her powers held her full potential back, but Mina's unrelenting perseverance and willingness to push forward with her powers made it so she could stand tall with the best, and in this battle, emerge victorious as the unmatched Alien Queen.

The winner…is Mina Ashido

Conclusion

Advantages:
• Slightly higher power output at her best that could one-shot Mina...
• Superior training in hand-to-hand and has more years of experience
• Potentially higher speed through scaling to Marvel Street Tiers...
• Has a few possible insta-win applications of her powers...
• Greater AOE and range
• Saved Christmas with Santa Claus and therefore fits today more
• Part of one of the greatest cartoons and superhero shows ever made

Disadvantages:
• ...But Mina's scaling is on the same level if not higher, and has the same one-shot arguments
• Not as prevelent in actual physical battles
• ...But her constantly getting blitzed and outsped by them means its highly unlikely shed get it, and is thus slower as a result
• ...But these are practically all one-time statements she never shows she can or thinks to do in a scenario like this
• Inferior control over her powers and is less likely to get her few win options off first as a result
• Barely in X-Men Apocalypse
• Kinda dead by way of Green Lantern. Check Hellfire Gala 2023 if you want context (Its a lot)

Advantages:
• Matches or exceeds in power with most arguments, and can one-shot with her Acid
• Physically stronger and has better experience/success in raw physical combat
• Faster or at the least equal thanks to feats/power growth
• More versatile powers that counter a good deal of Jubilee's own
• Far more likely to use her instant-win potential first, and has an easier time doing so
• Best Girl in MHA
Hotter

Disadvantages:
• Not as experienced and has inferior teachers in that regard
• Vulnerable to being killed instantly by Jubilee's Atom Bomb
• Potentially (albeit unlikely) slower due to street tier stats
• No counter to the esoteric abilities Jubilee can hypothetically use
• Inferior in AOE/range
• In worse Video Games
• Didn't get development or any real focus until the anime/over 100 chapters into the manga (like most good Shonen characters actually)
